Audience Profile Questionnaire

I wanted to build an image of an audience member to really know what kind of audience i am aiming for. Therefore i created a questionnaire to hand out to people who like Indi Music. To do this before i gave them the questionnaire i asked them what kind of music they were into. If they didn't say Indi music then i would move on and ask someone else. I did this as i only wanted to find out what people who liked Indi music were in too. Anything else would not be of reference to my magazine. If they said yes i then handed them my questionnaire. I did this until i had 20 completed questionnaires. These are the questions i asked..

1)What TV programmes do you watch on a regular basis?
2)What music channel do you watch the most?
3)Would you say you are more of a family or More of a friend person?
4)What do you do on the weekends?
5)Do you have any hobbies? If so what are they?
6)If you were to put yourself into a stereotyped group, which group would that be?
7)Do you care about what others think of you?
8)Do you consider yourself to keep up with fashion?

These are the results i got...
1)The most popular TV programme i got was Hollyoaks, with 8 people saying they follow it every week. The second was skins with 6 people saying they have followed every series. The remaining 6 all said different programmes such as the inbetweeners, Eastenders and Misfits.
2)Over half my results said they watch MTV2 the most. The rest either said NME, Q or said they didn't really watch music channels.
3)Everyone apart from one person said they were more of a friend than a family person.
4)14 people said all sorts of different things, however they all mentioned that they are always with friends whatever they are doing. 3 said they often go to the cinema, and 2 said they mostly go to there local shopping centre, to either shop or just to 'hang out'. 1 person said they usually just chill at a friends house.
5)15 people said they have no hobbies that they do all the time However 1 said they liked to paint, and a couple said they play football with mates if they have nothing to do sometimes. However 5 of them stated that they often make music with their friends as they all play various instruments.
6)9 people said they would not put themselves into a stereotyped group and 6 people said they follow some kind of fashion group. The remaining 5 didn't answer the question so assume they would put themselves into a stereotyped group either.
7)17 said yes and only 3 said no.
8)18 said yes they try their best to keep up with fashion, 1 said they currently don't but would if they had the money too. The remaining person said they don't really care what they wear as long as they feel comfy.

This information has now given me a good idea of the sort of person i should be aiming my magazine at. It will therefore give me help on what i should of my Front Cover, ContentsPage and Double Page Spread. Now i can work out what styles to use and what to look at when I'm deciding on things to use. I can use inspiration from the things these people like to get everything looking right, and attracting the right audience.
